Frequently Asked Questions

What do you charge for instruction?

For flight instruction, I charge $75/hour, which can be reduced to $70/hour if you are providing your own aircraft for flight training. Ground instruction is $60/hour, and can be done in person, or completely online.

Do you have an aircraft to use for flight training?

Yes. In partnership with Floris Flight Services, I have access to a Cessna 172R located at Odessa Schlemeyer Airport (KODO) that can be used for flight training. The aircraft is $195/hour wet when flying with me, or as a member of the Floris Flight Services flying club ($50/month). If you are flying the aircraft solo, and are not a member of the flying club, the aircraft rental increases to $215/hour.

What personal documents do I need to bring for TSA verification?

Before beginning flight training, it is the instructor’s responsibility to verify that the student is a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National, or submit the student’s information to the TSA for approval to receive flight training in the United States. Assuming you are a U.S. citizen, or U.S. national, you can find a list of acceptable personal documents at this link, under the “about the regulation” tab, on page 13.

What is your FAA Checkride pass rate?

This is always a great question to ask. For students taking a Checkride on their first attempt, I have a pass rate of 81.81% (9 out of 11 students).
